Brief history of the Institute:

In 1994, the Faculty of Technology was established on the basis of the departments of Chemistry and Technology, Light Industry Technology, Mineral Geology, and Ecology and Life Safety. In 1999, the Faculty of Technology was renamed the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, which, in addition to the above-mentioned departments, included the Department of Food Production Technology and the Subtropical Production Technology Sector. In the same year, the Faculty of Ecology and Geology was organized on the basis of these departments.

In 2003, by order of the rector of Osh Technological University, the Faculty of Technology and Environmental Management was formed on the basis of the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Ecology and Geology.

By order of the rector of Osh Technological University named after M. M. Adyshev on August 26, 2024, the Faculty of Technology and Natural Resource Management was transformed into the Institute of Technology and Natural Resource Management

Information about the activities of the Institute

For more than 30 years history of activity the Institute has trained more than 20 thousand specialists in the field of ecology and nature management, geology of minerals, forestry and landscape construction, protection in emergency situations, technology of production and processing of agricultural products, technology of light industry, chemistry and chemical technology.

The main mission of the Institute is to train modern highly qualified specialists with universal values and capable of making an effective contribution to the development of the Kyrgyz Republic.

We strive to form a high level of professional competencies and management skills in our graduates. We improve the quality of our work every day.

Graduates of the Institute can carry out labor activity in ecological, geological, forestry and water management, in various production branches of chemical, food, light industries and subdivisions of branch ministries. For optimal combination of theoretical and practical knowledge the Institute has lecture halls and laboratories equipped with modern analytical, technological and auxiliary equipment, interactive whiteboards, computers with specialized software, etc.

The Institute has 3 doctors of sciences, including 1 academician of NAS KR, 22 candidates of sciences, 2 honored workers of education and science, more than 34 highly qualified teachers.

Educational and methodical work

The Institute has full-time and part-time (distance) departments, where students are trained in two specialties of specialization and eight bachelor’s degrees on a budgetary and contractual basis, two master’s degrees and 5 specialties of postgraduate and doctoral studies. The total number of students of the institute is 1629, of which 332 students study at the full-time department and 1422 students study at the correspondence (distance) department.

Training is carried out on the basis of the State Educational Standard and approved by the first vice-rector of OshTU curriculum. Classes are held in accordance with the approved schedule.

In the Institute since 2014 operates the Dissertation Council D 06.23.663 for the defense of dissertations for the degree of doctor (candidate) of biological sciences in the specialties:

06.03.02 – forestry, silviculture, forest management and forest inventory-K

From 2024 on specialty 610600 Technology of production and processing of agricultural products opened PhD doctoral studies.

Research work of the Institute

Research work of the Institute is carried out according to the approved scientific topics of the departments on the basis of the plans and is aimed at solving the most important problems of socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan and corresponds to the priority directions of scientific and pedagogical schools of the University.

In order to further develop the scientific and innovation infrastructure of the Institute, taking into account the previously conducted applied and fundamental research and currently available scientific staff as priority scientific directions are:

chemistry and chemical technologies in agriculture;
problems of environmental protection, nature management and biodiversity conservation;
technology of light industry and new materials;
geology, mining, oil and gas processing;
technology of agricultural products processing and biotechnology;
technosphere safety, defense in emergency situations.

The scientific directions are made on the basis of the general scientific theme and on the direction of preparation of the departments and at present they are successfully realized in practice. The scientific works of the teaching staff and students should be especially noted. An example is the performance of students of the Institute in various scientific conferences, symposiums, their participation in the realization of international scientific projects.

International cooperation

International activity of the Institute is carried out within the framework of the process of internationalization of education and science as a strategy aimed at integration into the world and European educational space. Active cooperation with scientific, educational and innovative organizations in the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, Germany, China and other countries is carried out. The work on involvement of OshTU students in the process of commercialization of developments and innovation activities through the creation of Student Business Incubator (SBI) in the future, which allows students to gain experience in complex solution of the problem of commercialization of knowledge-intensive projects with the distribution of functions and responsibilities between members of business teams.
