History of the Institute
The Institute of Architecture and Construction is the progenitor of Osh Technological University. In order to train civil engineers, mechanics, and electricians, the General Technical Faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute was opened in Osh in 1963, offering evening classes. The first intake of students majoring in Industrial and Civil Engineering took place in 1988 for full-time study, and in 1991 for part-time study. In 1991, the Faculty of Engineering was opened for engineering majors. In 1996, the Faculty of Engineering and Construction was established for construction specialties. In connection with the transition of education in the Kyrgyz Republic to a two-tier system of education (bachelor’s, master’s), in 2016 the faculty was renamed the Faculty of Architecture and Construction. Based on the decision of the Academic Council and by order of the rector of Osh State Technical University No. 09-04/404 dated July 2, 2024, the Faculty of Architecture and Construction was transformed into the Institute of Architecture and Construction.
