The Department of Computational Linguistics is a unique space where linguistics, programming, and artificial intelligence come together — shaping a new generation of specialists for the digital era.
Founded in 2012, the department is now one of the most dynamically developing divisions of Osh Technological University.
It is headed by Aizhangyl Mitaevna Shermatova, Master of Philological Education.
Educational Programs
The department trains highly qualified bachelor’s degree specialists in two innovative fields:
531100 — Linguistics
(Profile: Translation and Translation Studies)
Future translators master the intricacies of intercultural communication, as well as literary, technical, and simultaneous translation.
Graduates become professionals capable of working in international companies, the media, government institutions, and the education sector.
710600 — Computational Linguistics
(Profile: Intercultural Communication and Automated Translation Systems)
Students explore modern language processing technologies, machine translation, speech recognition, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence.
Graduates create software capable of “understanding” language, engaging in dialogue, and helping people communicate without borders.

Faculty
The department brings together experienced teachers, researchers, and practitioners proficient in modern digital tools and innovative teaching methods.
The team includes two PhD holders, associate professors of Osh Technological University, masters of philological and technical disciplines, a software engineer, and a laboratory assistant.

Research and Project Activities
The department actively develops research in digital and corpus linguistics, machine translation, and artificial intelligence technologies.
