On March 6, 1990, by the order of the rector of FPI, the Department of Electronics and Computing Technology was formed based on the Osh Evening Faculty of the Frunze Polytechnic Institute, headed by senior lecturer A. A. Sarimsakov.
On September 9, 1997, the department was renamed the Department of Informatics and Computing Technology, with associate professor Nazarov M. N. as its head.
In 2000, two new departments were created from the Department of Informatics and Computing Technology:
- The Department of General Informatics
- The Department of Computing Technology, headed by associate professor Turgunbaev S. T.
On April 24 2003, the department was renamed the Department of Informatics, with associate professor Nazarov M. N. as the head of the department.
From September 1, 2006, to February 2007, senior lecturer Saadalov T. Y. led the department. From 2007 to 2010, the department was headed by professor Sarimsakov A. A. From 2010 to 2020, the head of the department was associate professor Matisakov Zh. K. Since 2020, the department has been led by associate professor Mambetov Zh. I., Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Currently, the department has 4 Candidates Technical Sciences, 3 Candidates of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 4 senior lecturers, 4 lecturers, 1 software engineer, 1 training master, and 1 laboratory assistant.
The Department of Informatics graduates bachelors and masters in the field of 710300 “Applied Informatics in Big Data Analytics.” The experience from leading universities shows that graduates of this field successfully work in education, economics, sociology, medicine, information networks, systems, and application programming.
Activities of the Department
- Participation in the organization and management of information processes, resources, systems, and services;
- Utilization of functional and technological standards;
- Training and consulting users during the operation of information systems;
- Participation in negotiations with clients;
- Project presentations.
Educational and methodological activities
- The department develops and publishes methodological instructions and manuals for laboratory and practical classes, course projects, and final qualification works.
- Educational disciplines are provided with working programs, syllabuses, and educational-methodological complexes.
- Working programs for profile disciplines are developed in accordance with state educational standards for relevant fields and specialties.
- There is ongoing planned work to improve the methodological support of assigned disciplines.
Research Activities
- of a systematic approach to the automation and informatization of solving applied problems and building information systems based on modern information and communication technologies;
- Preparation of reviews, annotations, abstracts, scientific reports, publications, and bibliographies for research work in the field of applied informatics.
