Brief history
To implement the AVN information system, distance, and innovative educational technologies in the educational process, according to the order of the rector No. 09-04/194 dated September 3, 2012, the Center for Distance Education and Quality of Education (CDEQE) was created at the Osh Technological University. In the same year, work began on the implementation of the information system (IS) “AVN”, aimed at automating the educational process at OshTU.
According to the order of the rector No. 09-04/89 dated April 23, 2013, the Center for Distance Education and Quality of Education was renamed the Center for Informatization and Innovative Technologies of Education (CIITE).
To optimize the structural divisions of OshTU, in 2017, according to the order of the rector No. 09-04/308 dated November 20, 2017, CIITE was renamed the Department of Informatization and Innovative Technologies of Education (DIITE).
To optimize the structural divisions of OshTU, in 2023, according to the order of the rector No. 09-04/333 dated November 1, 2023, DIITE was renamed into the Digital Innovation Department (DID).
The DID includes a UNIVER+ IS control center and a computer center for teaching staff. The employees of the department have developed a new information system UNIVER+ and are currently introducing it into the educational process. Work is underway to update and improve the UNIVER+ IS to improve the digitalization of the educational process.
Main functions of the DID
- DID was created for educational, methodological, information, technical, and consulting support for teachers and students participating in the educational process of OshTU;
- DID, together with faculties, organizes the provision of educational services for educational programs implemented at the university, using digital technologies;
- DID implements ready-made software products, and develops new programs for automating and managing the educational process at the university;
- DID administers the UNIVER+ IS, and controls the educational process using information technologies;
- Plans the educational process, and organizes and controls the work of teacher-consultants in implementing the educational process using DET. Documents reports on the results of the educational process control the recording and archival storage of the results of the educational process in printed and electronic form;
- DID develops and maintains the Website (oshtu.kg), the UNIVER IS portal, carries out technical solutions when filling out the Website, performs a set of works on the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of software and information support for the portal, including the UNIVER IS.
- Together with the library and departments, OshTU ensures the functioning of the electronic library.
- DID coordinates and controls scientific and methodological activities for the development of educational and methodological materials necessary for the implementation of the educational process with students studying using distance learning technologies, and the introduction of modern distance learning technologies into the educational process.
Computer center for teaching staff (TS)
The teaching staff computer center is a computer room equipped with 25 computers, where teachers and staff of OshTU can use Internet services for free.
DDI software engineers have developed and are implementing the UNIVER+ software product complex, which consists of several software components, such as “Admissions Committee”, “Testing”, “Employee HR Department”, “Student HR Department”, “Dean’s Office”, “Department”, “Teacher”, and “Schedule”, etc. A multifunctional “Educational Portal” has also been created, which implements elements of the process of introducing digital education at the university (link to the Univer+ booklet).
The electronic library contains all electronic educational and methodological materials developed by teachers of the departments, as well as numerous electronic copies of books.
