Brief history of the department
The department of “Geology, environmental management and safety” of the College of Humanities and Technology was formed by order of the rector of OshTU No. 09-04/171 dated 06.06.2016 based on the decision of the Academic Council of OshTU with the merger of the sectors “Open pit mining” and “Protection in emergency situations”.
The department trains students in the following specialties: 130304 “Open pit mining”, 280105 “Protection in emergency situations”, 240404 “Oil and gas processing” and 110305 “Technology of production and processing of agricultural products”.
The Department of Geology, Environmental Management and Safety is located at: Osh, st. N. Isanova, 81 in room 3/310A.

At present, the department has concluded agreements with the following enterprises in the specialty:

- Department of Monitoring and Forecasting of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- Agency for Tailings Management under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Specialty 240404 – Oil and gas processing
Bilateral agreements have been concluded with the following enterprises to organize educational practice for students who have completed specialty 240404 – Oil and Gas Processing.

Information about applicants:
Admission of applicants to OshTU is carried out transparently. Admission is carried out online for grades 9-11 based on matriculation marks. And in order not to create obstacles for potential applicants, first of all attention is paid at the state level, for example, applicants who graduated from school with honors and participated in state-level Olympiads are accepted without an exam.
Cooperation with employers:
The department works in close cooperation with employers. The material and technical base of these enterprises is widely used for training and educational and practical training for students. In addition, when passing state exams, the State Attestation Commission attracts experienced specialists from production.
OshTU has been accepting applicants for the specialty: 130304 “Open-pit mining” since 2012 and has so far graduated many production technicians in this specialty. OshTU has been admitting students in the specialty: 280301 “Protection in Emergency Situations” since 2015, specialty 240404 – Oil and Gas Processing has been admitting students to our university since 2014 and to date has produced many graduates, accepting applicants in the specialty: 110305 “Production Technology” and processing of agricultural products” has been carried out since 2018.

Standard period for mastering the basic educational program for training technicians and technologists:
- On the bases of 11th grade 1 year 10 months.
- On the bases of 9th grade for 2 years 10 months.
- Part-time department 2 years 4 months.

- 280105 “Protection in emergency situations” – technician;
- 240404 – Oil and gas processing – process technician;
- 110305 “Technology of production and processing of agricultural products” – technologist.
Scientific directions of the department
Head of the department, senior lecturer of the department Artykbaev Seitgazy Adilbekovich is a master of ecology with a specialty in “Ecology and environmental management”.
Senior teacher of the department Akmaral Kubanychbekovna Kultaeva defended her thesis in 2016 for the academic degree of Candidate of Geographical Sciences in specialty 25.00.36 – Geoecology. By decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic dated February 22, 2017, she was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Geographical Sciences.
